Mode of Action of Propoxur 20% EC
Propoxur, a carbamate insecticide, works by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine at nerve synapses. Normally, acetylcholine transmits nerve impulses and is quickly broken down to end the signal. By blocking this enzyme, Propoxur causes acetylcholine to accumulate, leading to persistent nerve stimulation, muscle spasms, paralysis, and ultimately death of the insect.
